Dr. Eric Han, DDS

Board Eligible Dentist Anesthesiologist

Dr. Eric Han is a dentist-anesthesiologist. He is a native of the Pacific Northwest and a 2006 graduate of the University of Oregon, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. In his initial career path, Dr. Han specialized in finance and marketing at corporations such as Samsung Electronics and Asiana Airlines. While visiting a dental office during this time, he fell in love with the patient care aspect of dentistry and decided to pursue it as a career.

After obtaining his DDS degree at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, Dr. Han entered a research program at Boston University’s Department of Periodontology where he investigated the effects of bisphosphonates on bone resorption. One day, he attended a course in intravenous sedation and medical emergencies where he learned about the fascinating art and science of anesthesiology, which in his view increased accessibility to dental care for anxious patients, children, and those with special needs. —a conviction that led him to pursue a specialty in dental anesthesiology.

Dr. Han completed his three-year anesthesiology training at St. Barnabas Hospital, a regional trauma center in New York. The extensive and rigorous residency program at St. Barnabas Hospital trained him to be able to function with expertise as an anesthesiologist in both medical and dental environments. He provided advanced airway and cardiovascular life support in real-life medical trauma and emergency scenarios in the operating room, trauma bay, intensive care unit, and in adult and pediatric emergency rooms. In addition, he is highly trained in the provision of outpatient dental anesthesiology for adult, pediatric, and special needs patients.

Dr. Han holds anesthesia permits in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. He practices anesthesiology with a science-based patient-first approach, utilizing current literature to provide the safest and the most comfortable anesthesia experience for patients. He continually keeps up to date with the highest level of safety standards – he is one of the few dentist-anesthesiologists to hold a current certification in advanced trauma life support from the American College of Surgeons, a hospital grade training in advanced level resuscitation.

Dr Han is a part-time faculty at Yale New Haven Hospital and an active member of the American Dental Association, Connecticut State Dental Association, American Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the Connecticut Society of Dentist Anesthesiologists.

Dr. Han also serves as a member of the Connecticut State Dental Association Anesthesia Task Force, and is an on-site anesthesia evaluator for the Connecticut Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Han and his wife live in Greenwich, Connecticut. He speaks Korean, Spanish, and Mandarin.
